Few private clubs in the Upstate South Carolina can match the setting that surrounds this Tom Fazio design — the Blue Ridge foothills rising in the distance, Lake Keowee's blue-green water threading through the property, and vineyards that give the Cliffs community here its distinctive name. Fazio shaped the routing to work with the natural contours of this rugged Piedmont terrain, and the result is a course where elevation changes, hardwood corridors, and occasional water views do as much work as the architecture itself.
The Cliffs at Keowee Vineyards is one of several courses spread across the broader Cliffs Communities development, a collection of private mountain and lake clubs stretching through the Carolina highlands. Each property has its own personality, but Vineyards is widely regarded as one of the more refined and scenically dramatic of the group, drawing comparisons to the understated luxury that defines the best of Fazio's portfolio.
Sunset sits just outside Seneca in Oconee County, a corner of South Carolina that borders both Georgia and North Carolina — genuinely uncrowded country, with Clemson University a short drive away and the Cherokee Foothills Scenic Highway threading nearby.
