Golf arrived in this corner of the Belgian Ardennes in surroundings that feel genuinely removed from the everyday. Mergelhof occupies the grounds of a historic estate near Plombières, a small municipality that sits at the meeting point of Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany — the so-called Dreiländereck, or Three Countries Point. That geography alone gives the place an unusual character: you're playing in Belgium, but Germany and the Netherlands are visible on clear days from the higher parts of the property.

The course winds through mature woodland and parkland typical of the Ardennes foothills, where elevation changes are real and the tree cover is dense enough to demand accuracy off the tee. This is not a layout that rewards brute force — the terrain does much of the work, routing holes through natural contours that make the yardage feel longer than it reads.
