Few courses in Ottawa's south end carry as much design pedigree as Stonebridge. Laid out by Thomas McBroom — one of Canada's most accomplished golf architects — the course opened in the early 2000s as the centrepiece of a planned residential community in Barrhaven, and it quickly established itself as one of the stronger private members' clubs in the National Capital Region. McBroom's routing makes intelligent use of the rolling terrain and mature tree corridors that define this part of the Ottawa Valley, creating a layout that feels more established than its years might suggest.
McBroom is known for building courses that reward strategic thinking over raw power, and Stonebridge fits that profile. The par-70 configuration keeps the card honest without resorting to length as its primary defence — positioning, course management, and clean ball-striking matter here.
Ottawa's golf season is compressed by a genuinely cold continental climate, which tends to concentrate the membership's enthusiasm into the warmer months. Stonebridge sits comfortably among the city's better private options, drawing a loyal membership that values both the quality of the conditions and the community the club has built around the game.
