Few courses in England announce themselves with quite the drama of Lanhydrock. Set on the National Trust estate of the same name on the edge of Bodmin Moor, the course occupies some of the most historically rich land in Cornwall — rolling parkland that surrounds a grand Victorian country house, its grounds shaped by centuries of careful stewardship. Playing here feels less like a round of golf and more like a slow walk through Cornish heritage.

The terrain does real work on the design. The estate's mature woodland, specimen trees, and the natural contours of the land give each hole its own character, and the layout rewards players who think their way around rather than simply overpower it. A par of 70 reflects a course that leans on precision and course management — this is not a track built for sluggers.

Bodmin itself sits at the heart of Cornwall, a county with a strong and unpretentious golf culture shaped by Atlantic weather and dramatic landscape. Lanhydrock belongs firmly to that tradition: a proper parkland course with an extraordinary setting behind it.
