Souraïde sits in the heart of French Basque Country, a village so small it barely registers on most maps, yet it occupies one of the most quietly beautiful corners of southwestern France. The rolling green hills here fold and rise toward the Spanish border, the landscape shaped by centuries of shepherding and the particular Atlantic light that makes the Pyrénées foothills glow on a clear morning. Golf Epherra — the name itself is Basque — belongs entirely to this territory, a course that feels grown from the land rather than imposed on it.
Epherra is a 9-hole layout, and this listing covers holes 10 through 18, the second loop of the property played as a full 18-hole round. The terrain is genuinely hilly, with elevation changes that reward course management over raw power, and the views toward the Basque hills and the distant Pyrénées are a constant presence. Expect firm, fast-running fairways in summer and lush, softer conditions through the wetter Atlantic winter months.
The club draws a loyal local following and visiting golfers touring a region better known for its cuisine, surf, and the pilgrim route to Santiago de Compostela. Biarritz and Saint-Jean-de-Luz are within easy reach, making Epherra a natural stop on any Basque Country itinerary.
