The Mar Menor coast of Murcia has long drawn northern Europeans in search of reliable sunshine and a more affordable slice of Mediterranean life, and Club de Golf Veneziola sits squarely in that world. San Javier occupies the western shore of the Mar Menor — Europe's largest saltwater lagoon — and the flat, sun-baked terrain defines what golf looks like out here: open fairways, persistent sea breezes off the lagoon, and a landscape of palms, pines, and scrub that gives the course a distinctly southern Spanish character without pretending to be anything grander than it is.
Veneziola is very much a club built around its residential community, catering to the expat population that settled across the La Manga and Mar Menor corridor during the property boom decades. The pace is relaxed, the membership international, and the golf is approachable — a layout that rewards local knowledge of wind direction and firmness of ground more than raw power.
Murcia's golf scene, while less celebrated than Andalusia to the south or the Costa del Sol, offers genuinely good winter-round conditions when much of Europe is unplayable. For visitors based along the Mar Menor, Veneziola offers convenient, sociable golf in a setting that wears its seaside resort identity comfortably and without apology.
