Few golf experiences in Colombia place you quite so vividly in the country's interior as a round at Club Campestre de Neiva, set just outside the departmental capital in the municipality of Rivera. The course occupies a broad, sun-washed valley carved by the Magdalena River, where the Andean foothills begin their climb on either side and the air carries a dry, warm quality quite unlike the cooler highland courses near Bogotá or Medellín. Rivera itself is known nationally as a thermal spa destination, and the surrounding landscape has a lush, almost tropical character despite sitting at a relatively modest elevation.
The club functions as the social and sporting anchor for Neiva's golfing community — the kind of private members' institution that doubles as a civic gathering place in a mid-sized Colombian city. Rounds here unfold against a backdrop of ceiba trees, sugarcane country, and the broad flatlands that define the upper Magdalena valley.
Huila is better known internationally for its coffee and the archaeological wonders of San Agustín, but for local golfers this club represents the region's game — unhurried, warm, and rooted in community rather than resort spectacle.
