Few golf institutions in Central America carry the history of Guatemala Country Club. Founded in the early 20th century, it stands as one of the oldest and most prestigious private clubs in the region, a cornerstone of Guatemalan social and sporting life for generations of members. The club has long been a hub for organized amateur competition in the country, producing players who have gone on to represent Guatemala at the regional and international level.
Guatemala City sits on a high plateau at roughly 1,500 meters elevation, which means the thin air adds meaningful carry to every shot — the ball simply flies farther here than it would at sea level. The surrounding landscape is dramatic: volcanic peaks frame the horizon and the climate is famously temperate year-round, earning the city its nickname "City of Eternal Spring." That mild, consistent weather means the course stays in play throughout all 12 months.
As a members-only institution, Guatemala Country Club maintains the intimate, tradition-minded atmosphere typical of long-established private clubs — a place where golf is woven into family life across multiple generations rather than treated as a casual recreation.
