Few resort courses in the Caribbean command the attention Corales does. Designed by Tom Fazio and opened in 2010 as part of the Punta Cana Resort & Club, it has become one of the most celebrated layouts in the entire region — distinguished by a dramatic closing stretch along the coral bluffs above the Atlantic that ranks among the most visually arresting finishes in world golf. The par-3 16th and the back-to-back oceanside holes that follow it have made Corales genuinely famous, turning what might have been another upscale resort course into a destination in its own right.
That reputation was cemented when the PGA Tour brought its Corales Puntacana Championship here, giving the course a level of professional scrutiny that few Caribbean venues ever receive. Players at every level encounter the same wind, the same crashing surf, and the same vertigo-inducing cliff-edge tee boxes that have humbled Tour professionals.
Punta Cana itself sits at the eastern tip of Hispaniola, where the Atlantic meets the Caribbean, and the trade winds are a constant, invisible playing partner. The broader resort complex hosts several courses, but Corales sits clearly at the top of that hierarchy.
