Few golf courses can claim to have hosted a sitting U.S. president, but Orange Tree Golf Club earned that distinction when it welcomed George H.W. Bush during his time in office. The club has long been a fixture in Orlando's upscale golf scene, a private retreat that carries a sense of occasion you feel from the moment you arrive. It plays through a residential community in the Dr. Phillips neighborhood on Orlando's southwest side, where mature tree canopy and quiet lakeside stretches give it a more intimate, grounded feel than the flashier resort corridors nearby.
Central Florida golf is defined by its flat terrain, subtropical heat, and the kind of lush, fast-running bermudagrass that rewards precise iron play and punishes anything offline. Orange Tree fits squarely in that tradition — tighter than the region's big resort layouts, with the trees living up to the name and framing fairways closely enough that wayward shots find trouble in a hurry.
As a private members' club, the pace and atmosphere here are unhurried and personal. This is golf as a local institution rather than a destination experience, which in Orlando — a city that can sometimes feel like one long tee-time queue — is a meaningful distinction.
