Grims Dyke

Few courses in Greater London carry quite as much historical intrigue as Grims Dyke, which takes its name from the ancient earthwork that still runs through the property — a pre-Roman boundary ditch whose origins archaeologists continue to debate. The course occupies grounds once belonging to Grims Dyke House, the Victorian mansion where W.S. Gilbert, of Gilbert and Sullivan fame, lived out his final years before drowning in his own ornamental lake in 1911.
