El Marqués sits on the high plateau just east of Querétaro city, one of Mexico's fastest-growing urban corridors and a region that has quietly built a reputation for quality golf over the past two decades. At roughly 1,800 meters above sea level, the altiplano climate is mild and dry, and the thinner air means the ball travels noticeably farther than it would at sea level — a detail worth knowing before you dial in your irons.
Zibata takes its name from the master-planned residential and commercial development it anchors, a large-scale project that has transformed this stretch of the Querétaro metropolitan fringe into a destination in its own right. Courses attached to developments of this ambition tend to be built to impress prospective residents as much as visiting golfers, which usually means generous maintenance budgets, resort-style presentation, and layouts designed to be both challenging and photogenic.
As a par 72 at this elevation, expect approach shots that demand recalibration and conditions that lean toward firm and fast through the dry season months.
