Few executive-length courses in Southern California carry the history or the setting that Oaks North does. Located in the Rancho Bernardo community in the northern reaches of San Diego, the course sits among the mature oak trees and gently rolling terrain that give the area much of its quiet, residential character. It's a layout built for real play — not a warm-up range dressed up with flags, but a genuine test that rewards shotmaking and course management within a shorter format.
At par 60, the design leans heavily on par 3s and short par 4s, which means iron play and precision off the tee matter far more than raw distance. That makes it a favorite among San Diego's large retiree and senior golf community — Rancho Bernardo has long been one of the region's premier active-adult destinations — but the demand for accuracy keeps better players honest too.
San Diego's near-perfect golf climate means Oaks North sees year-round play, and the oak canopy that frames much of the course provides both shade and a sense of place that sets it apart from the more manicured resort layouts along the coast.
