Normanville sits at the southern end of the Fleurieu Peninsula, about an hour's drive from Adelaide, where the Yankalilla district opens onto Gulf St. Vincent. It's an area of rolling rural hills giving way to long stretches of coastal beach — the kind of South Australian landscape that invites the word "links" without it feeling like a stretch. Lady Bay itself is the sheltered beach just below town, and the Gulf's prevailing winds are a constant, shaping both the scenery and the difficulty of any round played near the water here.
This is a community-scale club serving a region that draws weekenders and holidaymakers from the city as much as it does local residents. Normanville is small-town coastal South Australia — unhurried, unpretentious — and a round here tends to reflect that character. The course plays as a full 18-hole, par-72 layout, but the experience is more about the setting and the breeze off the Gulf than chasing a competitive score.
For visitors making the drive down the Fleurieu, Lady Bay fits naturally into a trip that might also include the McLaren Vale wine country to the north. It's the kind of course you play because of where it is.
