Frasch Park Golf Course takes its name from Herman Frasch, the German-American chemist and industrialist whose sulfur-mining operation in the late 19th and early 20th centuries put this corner of southwest Louisiana on the map. That history gives the course an identity few municipal layouts can claim — the land itself was shaped by industrial enterprise before it became a place for recreation, and the park bearing Frasch's name has long served as the community's civic green space.
