Loomis Trail Golf Club sits just minutes from the Canadian border in Blaine, Washington — a town that exists largely as a gateway between the Pacific Northwest and British Columbia. That border-country setting matters here: the course occupies the rolling, forested terrain that defines this corner of Whatcom County, where tall conifers frame nearly every hole and the wet maritime climate keeps the turf lush through most of the year.
Designed by John Fought and opened in 1993, Loomis Trail earned a strong reputation early on, drawing comparisons to much pricier resort tracks in the region. Fought shaped the land thoughtfully, routing holes through stands of Douglas fir and across terrain that gives the round genuine variety — elevation changes, doglegs, and water coming into play in ways that reward course management over raw power. It has consistently ranked among the better public-access courses in Washington State.
The private-feeling finish and well-maintained conditioning give Loomis Trail a character that punches above its green-fee weight, making it a worthwhile detour whether you're crossing the border or simply exploring the northwestern corner of the state.
