Roundwood Golf Club sits in County Wicklow, a county that has earned its reputation as Ireland's Garden of Ireland with good reason — rolling hills, heather-edged moorland, and a landscape that shifts dramatically between soft farmland and the wilder upland terrain of the Wicklow Mountains. At roughly 800 feet above sea level, Roundwood village is one of the highest in Ireland, and that elevation shapes everything about what golf here feels like: big skies, exposed conditions, and views that stretch far beyond the boundaries of any fairway.
The course plays across genuine upland terrain, which means the weather is a variable you never quite solve. Wind direction can change hole to hole as the land folds around you, and the turf tends toward the firm and fast that Irish inland golf does well.
Newtown Mount Kennedy is within comfortable reach of Dublin, making this part of Wicklow a popular escape for city golfers looking for a different texture of course than the busy suburban parklands closer to the capital.
