Atlantic Golf Club

Few courses in the United States carry the quiet prestige of Atlantic Golf Club. Opened in 1992 and designed by Rees Jones, the course was built on the South Fork of Long Island at a moment when the Hamptons were cementing their status as home to some of the most exclusive private clubs in the country. Jones routed the layout across open, windswept terrain that owes more to the linksland tradition than to the manicured parkland style common elsewhere in the Northeast — fairways move through native fescue and tall grasses, and the Atlantic breezes that roll in off the ocean can turn a straightforward iron shot into a genuine puzzle.
