翡翠高爾夫球場 — Emerald Golf Club — sits in the Wanli District of New Taipei City, a mountainous coastal corridor stretching between the Taipei basin and the Northeast Coast Scenic Area. The terrain here is serious: steep green ridges, dense subtropical vegetation, and the kind of humidity that makes every round feel earned. Wanli is better known internationally for its proximity to Yehliu Geopark and the Queen's Head rock formation, but for Taiwanese golfers it has long been a legitimate golf destination, with several courses taking advantage of the dramatic topography that flat-land designers could only dream about.
Courses built into Taiwan's northern mountain folds tend to demand precise shot-shaping over raw distance — elevation changes turn straightforward approach shots into genuine puzzles, and the lush rough recovers quickly in the subtropical climate.
As a destination round from central Taipei, the drive north through the mountains is itself part of the experience — and the cooler elevation air at Wanli offers a welcome contrast to the heat of the city below.
