Georgetown sits at the northern edge of the Austin metro, where the Texas Hill Country begins its slow rise out of the Blackland Prairie — cedar breaks, limestone outcroppings, and the wide sky that defines central Texas. Cimarron Hills Golf & Country Club occupies this transitional landscape with the kind of setting that rewards members who know to look up from their scorecards occasionally.
The course was designed by Jack Nicklaus, which places it firmly in a tradition of bold risk-reward architecture — generous landing areas that tighten as ambition grows, greens complexes that demand precise approach angles, and an aesthetic built around natural terrain rather than manufactured drama. Nicklaus designs in Texas tend to work with the cedar and live oak rather than against them, and Cimarron Hills is no exception.
As a private country club, the experience here is built around membership and community as much as the round itself. Georgetown's rapid growth has brought serious golfers into its orbit, and Cimarron Hills remains one of the more distinguished addresses in the corridor between Austin and the Hill Country proper.
