Turner Hill occupies one of the more storied private estates on Boston's North Shore — a property whose history predates the golf course by generations. The club is built around a grand Tudor Revival mansion that once served as the country seat of the Wigglesworth family, and the grounds carry that old-money New England gravitas throughout. Brian Silva, one of the region's most respected golf architects, designed the course, which opened in 2001 and was routed across terrain that rewards careful study. Fairways move through mature hardwoods, open meadows, and elevation changes characteristic of Essex County's rocky drumlin landscape.
The North Shore of Massachusetts has long been serious golf country — Myopia Hunt Club, one of the oldest clubs in America and a former U.S. Open host, sits just a few miles away — and Turner Hill holds its own in that distinguished company. The course plays with strategic depth, demanding thoughtful shot selection rather than pure power.
For members, the experience extends well beyond the round itself. The restored mansion serves as the clubhouse, giving Turner Hill a sense of occasion that few clubs can match — equal parts private retreat and living piece of New England architectural history.
