Club de Golf Novo Sancti Petri

Few stretches of Spanish coastline have drawn as much golf investment as the Costa de la Luz south of Cádiz, and Novo Sancti Petri stands as one of its flagship developments. The complex was designed by Severiano Ballesteros, the region's most iconic golfing son, and opened in the early 1990s as part of a wider resort that capitalised on Chiclana's long Atlantic beaches and near-constant sunshine. Ballesteros shaped two 18-hole courses here — referred to as courses A/B and C/D — across a broad, relatively flat coastal landscape softened by pines and scrub. The routing makes deliberate use of prevailing Atlantic winds, meaning the same hole can play very differently from one day to the next.

Chiclana de la Frontera sits roughly halfway between Jerez de la Frontera and Tarifa, in a corner of Andalucía where sherry country meets the sea. The climate is among the sunniest in continental Europe, and the surrounding terrain carries the sandy, wind-sculpted character typical of the Bay of Cádiz coastline.

As a resort facility, Novo Sancti Petri caters to visiting golfers alongside a residential membership, with the courses in good condition throughout most of the year and a reasonable green-fee access structure. The Ballesteros pedigree gives it a draw beyond mere convenience — this is a course shaped by someone who understood how to use wind, width, and natural ground movement to reward thoughtful play over raw power.
