Few courses in England wear their limitations quite as honestly as Whitstable & Seasalter. A par 66 layout on the north Kent coast, it's a short course by any measure — but that brevity is part of the identity, not an apology for it. The club sits in a part of the world where golf has long coexisted with working harbours, oyster beds, and the wide grey estuary light that painters and writers have chased for centuries. Whitstable itself is one of the most characterful small towns on the English coast, and the course carries something of that unpretentious, weathered quality.
North Kent links and coastal layouts tend to play firmer and faster than their yardage suggests, and the sea breeze along this stretch of the Thames Estuary can turn a straightforward-looking hole into something requiring real thought and creativity off the tee.
For visiting golfers, this is less about a stern examination and more about an afternoon in an irreplaceable corner of England — salt air, low skies, and a round that rewards touch over power.
