Few golf experiences on Florida's Emerald Coast match the setting at Regatta Bay, where the layout winds through the wetlands and bayous that define this stretch of the Panhandle between Destin Harbor and Choctawhatchee Bay. Designed by Robert Walker and opened in 1996, the course makes dramatic use of its coastal geography — water comes into play on the majority of holes, and the views across the bay give the round a genuine sense of occasion that sets it apart from the more inland options in the region.
Regatta Bay has earned a strong local reputation as one of the finer public-access courses along the Emerald Coast corridor, drawing visitors who come to the Destin area for its beaches and fishing but find themselves equally captivated by the golf. The course rewards patience and shot placement over raw distance, with the wetland carries demanding respect from players of any level.
Destin itself sits on a narrow peninsula where the Gulf of Mexico meets the bay, and that watery, subtropical character permeates the entire round. Expect coastal winds, abundant wildlife, and a layout that asks you to think carefully before you swing.
