Apodaca sits just northeast of Monterrey, in the industrial heartland of Nuevo León, where the Sierra Madre Oriental rises dramatically to the west and south. This part of northern Mexico has quietly developed one of the more underrated regional golf scenes in Latin America, drawing players from both sides of the border who come for the mountain backdrops and the reliably warm, dry climate that keeps the courses playable through much of the year.
Las Cruces is an 18-hole, par-72 layout serving what is largely a local and regional membership community in greater Monterrey. Without detailed records of its architect or founding history, what can be said is that courses in this corridor tend to reflect the terrain honestly — fairways that work with the natural grade rather than against it, and views of the surrounding ranges that no scorecard ever manages to capture.
Monterrey's golf culture skews serious. Regiomontanos tend to play with competitive intent, and a course like Las Cruces, embedded in a metropolitan area of several million people, functions as genuine common ground — a place where the game matters and regular players know every bounce.
