Furudals Bruks Golfklubb sits in the heart of Dalarna, the province that many Swedes consider the soul of the country — a landscape of dark pine forests, red-painted farmhouses, and mirror-still lakes that define the classic Swedish interior. Furudal itself is a small ironworks village, and the club's name reflects that heritage directly: "Bruks" marks it as a course born from the old industrial community that once shaped this remote corner of Sweden.
Dalarna's golf season is compressed by northern latitude, running roughly from late April through September before the frost reasserts itself, which gives play here a quality that courses in milder climates rarely offer — a genuine seasonality, an awareness that summer is finite and precious. The setting is dense with spruce and birch, and the air carries that particular stillness of the Swedish inland forest.
Expect a course that rewards local knowledge and straight driving, where the trees are not decorative but genuinely penal, and where the wider atmosphere of a small community club gives the round an unhurried, unpretentious character that is increasingly hard to find.
