Few courses in America carry as much symbolic weight in their name alone. The Concession honors the famous act of sportsmanship at the 1969 Ryder Cup, when Jack Nicklaus conceded a short putt to Tony Jacklin on the final hole, halving the match and preserving Great Britain's tie — a gesture still celebrated as one of golf's finest moments. The club was co-designed by Nicklaus and Jacklin themselves, opened in 2006, and the collaboration gives the course a transatlantic gravitas unusual for a Florida layout. It has hosted significant amateur and professional competition, including the 2021 WGC-Workday Championship, which brought the world's top players to Bradenton and showcased the design on a global stage.
The course plays long and demands genuine shot-making — this is not a typical Florida resort track. Water, native vegetation, and strategic bunkering reward players who think their way around rather than simply overpower it.
Bradenton sits on Florida's Gulf Coast, just south of Tampa Bay, where the warm climate and flat terrain might suggest a pedestrian setting. The Concession pushes hard against that expectation, delivering an experience that feels more consequential than its geography might imply.
