Asoufid Golf Club sits on the southern edge of Marrakesh, where the city's famous palm groves begin to give way to the open desert and the Atlas Mountains rise dramatically on the horizon. Designed by Nicklaus Design and opened in 2014, the course was built as the centrepiece of a luxury real estate and resort development, and that ambition shows in every detail — from the immaculate conditioning to the grand scale of the layout, which winds through villa estates and manicured gardens against that extraordinary mountain backdrop.
The design leans into its desert-golf character, with generous fairways flanked by sculpted sandy waste areas and drought-tolerant plantings that frame shots without punishing errant play too harshly. Water features appear at key moments, and the overall routing makes consistent, compelling use of the Atlas views — few courses in Morocco offer such a cinematic sense of elevation and scale from the playing surface itself.
Marrakesh has established itself as one of Africa's most serious golf destinations, with a cluster of quality courses serving the city's thriving tourist and second-home market. Asoufid occupies the premium end of that spectrum, and the combination of Nicklaus pedigree, resort-standard facilities, and the raw drama of the setting makes it a natural draw for visiting golfers looking for something beyond the ordinary.
