Storsjöbygdens golfklubb sits on the eastern shore of Lake Storsjön, Sweden's 5th-largest lake and the legendary home of Storsjöodjuret — the local answer to the Loch Ness Monster. Jämtland is one of Sweden's most dramatic inland provinces, a land of big skies, dense boreal forest, and broad lake vistas, and the course reflects that setting directly. Fairways open against a backdrop of forested ridgelines, and the presence of the lake — visible from several points on the property — gives rounds here a genuine sense of remoteness and scale that is hard to manufacture.
Tandsbyn is a small community just south of Östersund, the regional capital and the cultural heart of Jämtland. Östersund has a compact but earnest golf scene, and Storsjöbygdens functions as a community club serving players from the wider lakeshore area rather than a destination resort.
Golf in this latitude means a compressed season — typically late May through September — but that window delivers extraordinarily long midsummer days, with evening rounds played in soft Nordic light that lingers well past 10 p.m. For visitors, combining golf here with Östersund's food culture and the surrounding fells makes for a distinctly Scandinavian experience.
