Show Low sits on Arizona's Mogollon Rim, where the Colorado Plateau drops into the White Mountains at around 6,300 feet of elevation. This is high-country Arizona — ponderosa pine forests, cool summers, and a landscape that bears little resemblance to the desert golf most visitors associate with the state. The name "Show Low" traces back to a card game that decided ownership of a ranch in 1876, and the town remains a gateway for Arizonans escaping Phoenix heat.
The Tower Course is an 18-hole, par-72 layout that lives in this pine-framed setting, where the altitude adds distance to every iron and the tree-lined corridors demand accuracy off the tee. High-elevation courses in this part of Arizona tend to play firm and fast, with the ball flying noticeably farther than at sea level — a pleasant surprise for visiting players used to sea-level distances.
Show Low's broader golf scene has grown steadily as a summer alternative to the Valley of the Sun, drawing players who want conditions closer to a mountain track than a desert resort. The Tower Course is part of that regional identity — serious terrain, genuine pine forest, and a cooler round than most of Arizona can promise.
