Tortuna Golfklubb sits about 15 kilometers northeast of Västerås, the historic industrial city on Lake Mälaren's northern shore that has been one of Sweden's most important urban centers since the Viking Age. The club takes its name from the Tortuna parish, an agricultural district of open farmland, birch groves, and the gentle rolling terrain that characterizes inland Västmanland.
