Few American resort complexes have the name recognition of Doral, and the Blue Monster — the sprawling championship layout at its heart — carries decades of PGA Tour history. The course hosted the Doral-Ryder Open for more than 40 consecutive years, making it one of the most reliably tested venues on the professional circuit, and names like Jack Nicklaus, Raymond Floyd, and Tiger Woods all left their names on the trophy. The property was purchased by Donald Trump in 2012, and a significant renovation followed, with the Blue Monster lengthened and reworked to sharpen its teeth for modern professionals.
The course sits in the flat, sun-drenched terrain west of Miami, where subtropical heat and the ever-present threat of afternoon thunderstorms are as much a part of the challenge as the layout itself. Water is everywhere — canals, lakes, and the signature finishing hole where an approach over a wide lake demands both nerve and execution.
Doral remains a major resort destination in South Florida, drawing serious golfers who want to test themselves on a course with genuine Tour pedigree.
