Orapa Golf Course

Orapa is a company town in the heart of the Kalahari, built and operated by Debswana to house workers at one of the world's largest diamond mines. The golf course here is very much a product of that setting — a facility maintained for the mining community rather than visiting golfers, sitting inside one of the most remote and security-controlled towns in southern Africa. Getting in requires advance arrangement, as Orapa itself is a restricted, gated settlement roughly 250 kilometers west of Francistown in central Botswana.

Playing golf in the Kalahari is a singular experience defined by extremes. The landscape is semi-arid savanna, the light is fierce, and the heat between October and April can make even a modest round feel genuinely demanding.
