Few courses in continental Europe enjoy a setting quite like this one. Gardagolf Country Club sits in the hills above Lake Garda's western shore, near the small Brescian comune of Soiano del Lago, where olive groves, cypress trees, and vineyards define the landscape as much as any fairway does. Opened in 1986 and designed by the prolific Pete Dye — whose fingerprints show in the course's strategic bunkering, railroad-tie detailing, and demands for precise shot-shaping — it quickly established itself among Italy's most respected private clubs.
The layout stretches across rolling terrain with elevation changes that deliver panoramic views of the lake on several holes, creating moments that reward the eyes even when the card doesn't cooperate. Dye's routing uses the natural contours shrewdly, so the course plays harder than a casual glance at the scenery might suggest.
As a members' club, Gardagolf carries the unhurried character of the region itself — serious about golf, but never disconnected from the broader pleasure of being on the shores of Garda.
