That kind of provisional, make-do spirit is actually fitting for the Venetian context. The entire metropolitan area — from Mestre on the mainland to the island communities of the lagoon — sits within a flat, reclaimed landscape of marshland and agricultural ground, the same low-lying terrain that defines northeastern Italy's relationship with water and soil.
A 9-hole layout at par 36 suggests full-length holes rather than an executive trim, so whatever its temporary status implies administratively, the golf itself appears to make no compromises on that front.
