Golf Club Karersee - Golf Club Carezza

Few courses in Europe ask you to play under the gaze of the Dolomites quite like this one. Carezza sits at roughly 1,600 meters above sea level in the South Tyrol, the historically German-speaking corner of northern Italy where Alpine and Italian cultures have overlapped for centuries. The surrounding landscape — jagged limestone towers, dark pine forests, the famous turquoise waters of Lake Carezza just down the road — makes this one of the more visually arresting settings in continental golf.

The course itself is a mountain layout in the truest sense: short by lowland standards, but the altitude, the undulating terrain, and the thin air that makes distances deceptive all demand a different kind of game than flatter parkland tracks. Accuracy matters far more than raw power here, and the course rewards players who can shape shots through tree-lined corridors and manage awkward, sloping lies.

The season runs only from late spring through early autumn, when the valley is free of snow and at its most spectacular. Welschnofen/Nova Levante is a bilingual community — road signs and menus appear in both German and Italian — and the clubhouse atmosphere reflects that easy dual identity, blending Tyrolean warmth with Italian hospitality.
