One of the oldest country clubs in South Jersey, Merchantville Country Club carries a history that stretches back to the late 19th century, when golf in the Philadelphia region was still a novelty pursued by a small, enthusiastic set. The club originally took root in the borough of Merchantville before the surrounding communities grew and shifted around it, and that sense of enduring continuity — of a club that has simply outlasted the changing landscape — defines much of its character today.
Cherry Hill sits in Camden County, just across the Delaware River from Philadelphia, in the flat, wooded terrain typical of the South Jersey coastal plain. The area has long supported a dense and competitive private club culture fed by the Philadelphia metropolitan golf community, and Merchantville occupies a respected place in that tradition.
As a private members' club, the experience here is shaped by familiarity and loyalty — regulars who know every break and bounce on a course that rewards patience and course management over raw power.
