Few stretches of the North Wales coastline produce golf quite like the links land running east from Rhyl toward the Point of Ayr. Prestatyn Golf Club occupies a corridor of that duneland, where the Irish Sea sets the prevailing wind and the natural terrain does most of the architectural work. Links golf here means firm, fast-running fairways, greens that reward ground game as much as aerial approach, and the constant company of salt air moving in off the water.
Prestatyn is a working members' club rather than a resort showpiece, which gives it a character that polished destination courses rarely carry — a grounded, local identity shaped by generations of regular play. North Wales has long been underestimated on the wider links map, overshadowed by the celebrated courses of Anglesey and the Lleyn Peninsula, but the Flintshire coast offers genuine linksland at an accessible, unhurried level. Prestatyn is a solid representative of that quietly rewarding tradition.
