Víkurvöllur

Stykkishólmur sits at the tip of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula in western Iceland, a small fishing town of painted timber houses and a harbor full of working boats, with the extinct volcano Snæfellsjökull glacier looming to the west. It is one of Iceland's more atmospheric corners — the setting that inspired Jules Verne's Journey to the Center of the Earth — and Víkurvöllur is golf in that same spirit of remote, elemental beauty.

The course occupies open coastal ground typical of Icelandic golf: short, firm turf shaped by Atlantic wind, with lava fields and the broad Breiðafjörður bay providing a backdrop that no inland course can match. The wind is not incidental here — it is essentially a playing partner, turning modest yardage into something far more demanding depending on which direction the gusts arrive from. Conditions change fast.
