Maurik sits along the banks of the Lek in the Betuwe, the long ribbon of river-island country that runs through central Gelderland between Arnhem and Utrecht. This is orchard and polder territory — flat, open, and subject to the kind of persistent westerly wind that quietly doubles the difficulty of almost any golf course it visits. MultiGolf Maurik is a compact, pay-and-play layout designed with accessibility in mind, drawing recreational golfers from the surrounding Rivierenland region as well as visitors to the popular Recreatiepark Maurik that borders the course.
The design makes sensible use of the low-lying landscape, with water features doing much of the work that elevation changes simply cannot provide in this part of the Netherlands. That means accurate iron play and a tidy short game matter more than raw distance — the wind will take care of any distance illusions on its own.
For golfers based in Gelderland or passing through the Betuwe, MultiGolf Maurik offers an unpretentious, welcoming round without the formality of a members' club — the kind of course where beginners find their footing and experienced players still have to think.
