Kalulushi sits in the heart of Zambia's Copperbelt, the industrial region that for much of the 20th century powered the country's economy through copper mining. Chibuluma takes its name from the Chibuluma Mine, one of the smaller but historically significant operations in the area, and the club grew out of the social infrastructure that mining companies built for their workers and expatriate staff — a pattern repeated across the Copperbelt towns of Kitwe, Ndola, and Mufulira, each of which developed its own golf culture during the colonial and post-independence eras.
Playing golf in this part of Zambia means navigating a landscape shaped by the central African plateau — generally flat to gently rolling terrain at around 1,300 metres of elevation, with a climate that softens what might otherwise be punishing heat. The rainy season, roughly November through April, keeps the course green but demands a different game than the dry-season conditions that firm and quicken the turf considerably.
As a club rooted in a mining community, Chibuluma likely carries the tight-knit character common to Copperbelt golf — members who know every bounce and idiosyncrasy of their home course, and a welcome that reflects a town where the sport has long served as common ground.
