Few courses in the Atlantic City corridor can match the sheer drama Twisted Dune brings to the New Jersey Shore. Designed by Archie Struthers and opened in 2001, the layout was carved through the scrubby pine barrens and sandy soil of Egg Harbor Township — terrain that practically demanded a links-influenced design. The result is a sprawling, wind-exposed track where the ball flight matters as much as club selection, and where the natural contours of the land feel entirely uncontrived.
Struthers leaned into the site's movement and vegetation rather than fighting it, producing bold, sweeping fairways framed by native fescue and waste areas that punish wayward shots without feeling artificial. The routing earned the course genuine national attention on release, and it remains one of the more respected public-access layouts in the mid-Atlantic region — a serious test that rewards shotmakers willing to think their way around.
Egg Harbor Township sits minutes from the Atlantic City casino strip, but Twisted Dune operates in a different register entirely — quieter, more elemental, the kind of round that leaves you thinking about specific shots on the drive home.
