Terravita Golf Club sits within a private, guard-gated community in north Scottsdale, one of the most golf-saturated corridors in American golf. The club opened in the mid-1990s alongside the broader development of the Terravita community, designed by Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish — a partnership responsible for some of the most respected desert-style layouts in Arizona, including Troon North. The course plays through the high Sonoran Desert, where saguaro cacti, rocky arroyos, and native desert scrub define the edges of nearly every hole.
Weiskopf and Morrish built Terravita in the desert-target style that defined Scottsdale's golf identity during that era — generous landing areas framed by natural desert, where errant shots are penalized quickly and the surrounding landscape does much of the course's aesthetic heavy lifting. Elevation changes across the site give the routing variety, and mountain views are a near-constant backdrop.
As a private club tied to a residential community, Terravita caters to its members with a polished, unhurried atmosphere. It won't host a major championship, but it represents exactly what drew so many golfers to north Scottsdale in the first place.
