Coomealla Golf Club

Coomealla Golf Club sits in one of the most unlikely settings for golf in New South Wales — the far west outback fringe, where the Murray and Darling rivers meet near Dareton, a small community just across the water from Mildura in Victoria. This is red-earth country, sun-scorched and flat, where irrigation agriculture transformed the landscape and a riverside golf culture quietly took root. The club draws from both sides of the state border, sharing a natural community with Mildura in the way that twin towns do, and the relaxed, unpretentious character of the region runs right through the golf experience.

Like many outback and semi-arid clubs across inland Australia, Coomealla almost certainly plays on sand scrapes or treated surfaces rather than grass greens for much of the year, which is simply the practical reality of golf this far from reliable rainfall.
