Auburn Golf Course has been a fixture of the South King County golf scene for decades, one of the region's accessible public tracks where working golfers — not resort visitors — come to get their rounds in. The course sits in the Green River Valley, a broad, flat agricultural corridor that runs between the Cascade foothills to the east and the suburban sprawl creeping down from Renton and Kent. That valley setting gives the layout an open, unobstructed feel that stands apart from the heavily wooded courses common elsewhere in the Pacific Northwest.
Playing to a par 71, the course skews slightly toward shorter, tighter challenges rather than brute length, rewarding placement and course management over raw power. The mild, wet western Washington climate means the fairways stay green deep into autumn, though the same moisture that keeps the turf lush also softens conditions considerably from October through spring.
Auburn itself is a working-class city with a genuine local golf culture — this is a place where regulars have standing tee times and the pro shop knows your name.
