Few settings in American golf are as reliably sunny and social as Naples, Florida, where the southwestern Gulf Coast has built one of the densest concentrations of private clubs in the country. Naples Heritage fits squarely into that world — a private, members-only community club where the golf course serves as the beating heart of a residential neighborhood rather than a standalone destination. The course was designed by Gordon Lewis, one of the more prolific architects working the Florida market in the 1990s, and it carries the hallmarks of that era and region: water in play on the majority of holes, strategic bunkering, and a routing that weaves through the community's homes and natural preserve areas.
Southwest Florida's flat terrain means the drama here comes from water, wind, and precision rather than elevation change. The subtropical landscape — palms, flowering vegetation, and the occasional alligator sunning near a pond — gives the round an unmistakably Floridian atmosphere regardless of the season.
For members, this is a course built for regular play and genuine competition, not spectacle. The layout rewards thoughtful shot-making and local knowledge over raw power, the kind of track that reveals more of itself the better you know it.
