Kino Springs sits just north of the Mexican border in Nogales, a city split between Arizona and Sonora, where the high desert gives way to the Santa Cruz River valley. At roughly 3,800 feet of elevation, the climate here is milder than Tucson or Phoenix — warm and dry through much of the year, with enough monsoon moisture in summer to keep the surrounding terrain greener than you might expect this close to the international line. The course takes its name from Father Eusebio Kino, the 17th-century Jesuit missionary whose trail through this corridor shaped the history of the entire borderlands region.
The layout plays through a landscape defined by native grasses, desert scrub, and the rolling topography of the Santa Cruz basin — terrain that rewards course management over raw power. A par of 71 signals a design that leans on variety rather than length, mixing shorter, strategic holes with enough challenge to keep single-digit players engaged.
