Kjekstad Golfklubb occupies the grounds of the historic Kjekstad Manor estate in Røyken, a municipality on the western shore of the Oslofjord in the former Akershus county. The manor itself dates back centuries, and that heritage gives the club an atmosphere few Norwegian courses can match — you're playing through a working cultural landscape, with the old estate buildings visible from several holes and a sense of history that sits comfortably alongside the golf.
The terrain here is classic Norwegian inland-coastal: rolling, forested, and shaped by glacial movement, with elevation changes that make the course visually engaging and strategically interesting. Mature trees frame many fairways, and the fjord region's relatively mild microclimate means the season runs a little longer than at courses further north or higher in elevation. The setting rewards players who pay attention to what's around them, not just what's in front of them.
Kjekstad serves as the home club for golfers across the greater Røyken and Hurum area, drawing a loyal membership that values the course's character over raw length. For visiting players, it offers an honest, well-maintained layout in one of the more scenically underrated pockets of the Oslo region.
