Few golf courses in the world sit at this kind of elevation. Sestriere occupies the high Alpine terrain of the Piedmont region, perched in the mountains above Turin at roughly 2,000 meters — a setting that makes simply stepping onto the first tee something of an event. The thin air, the panoramic views across the Italian and French Alps, and the short, firm turf of mountain meadows combine to create a playing experience that has almost nothing in common with lowland golf.
