Garland Resort has been one of northern Michigan's signature golf destinations since it opened its doors in the 1960s, and Reflections is among the quartet of 18-hole courses spread across the property — a scale of golf infrastructure that sets Garland apart from virtually any other resort in the Great Lakes region. The courses here were largely the work of the late Ron Otto, a Michigan-based architect who shaped layouts that work with the region's rolling, forested terrain rather than imposing anything artificial upon it. Reflections carries that same sensibility: tree-lined corridors, natural elevation changes, and a design that rewards course management over raw power.
Lewiston sits in Montmorency County in the northern Lower Peninsula, a part of Michigan defined by second-growth hardwood forests, clear trout streams, and a four-season outdoor culture. Summer golf here means cool mornings, genuine canopy shade, and the kind of unhurried pace that big-city courses rarely allow.
As a resort track, Reflections suits a wide range of players — the sort of round you might play on day 2 of a Garland stay, once you've taken stock of the property and settled into the rhythm of the place.
